Life, Sexual Violence and HIV/AIDS in Prison

 
 
 

CSVR will be launching two policy briefs covering findings of a survey with male youth held at a Gauteng correctional centre:

"Doing Time in a Gauteng Juvenile Correctional Centre for Males"
This brief gives a snapshot of the youth surveyed, their reported views and experiences of certain aspects of life in the facility, and issues related to HIV/AIDS, sexuality and gender.
"Fear, Violence and Sexual Violence in a Gauteng Juvenile Correctional Centre for Males"
This brief focuses on the young men's reports of fear and violence in the prison and outlines their ideas for creating safer prison environments.

Sonke Gender Justice will share insights from their work on violence and HIV/AIDS in prison.
