Understanding people's power:
Promoting participatory governance – Reducing the potential for violence

The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation(CSVR) together with Action for Conflict Transformation hosts a seminar at Constitution Hill on a research report entitled Public Participation, Policy Processes and Violent Conflict: Responsive and Responsible Governance in South Africa.

Speakers:

Charmaine Estment from Conflict and Governance Facility on Human Security, the constitution and public participation

Chris Landsberg from Centre for Policy Studies on Understanding peoples power – policy and public participation

Westen Shilaho a CSVR researcher on Responsive and Responsible Governance

Gillian Ameck Ayong from ACTION for Conflict Transformation on Building the capacity of civil society to engage constructively
