The Centre for Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) is looking for exceptional individuals to join our Board to contribute to our mission and ensure we have the capacity and skills to oversee the next phase of our strategy.
The individuals must be professionally qualified and demonstrate a track record of achievement in their field of expertise with the confidence and capability to challenge and inject vibrancy, strategic and governance oversight at board level. We welcome applications of professionals with high level experience and continental exposure in various fields inclusive but not limited to CSVR content areas (violence prevention, transitional justice, human rights (including torture), Mental Health and psychosocial support, Gender Based Violence), finance, fundraising, Human Resources and civil society. Candidates are expected to fully subscribe to the CSVR values and principles and be prepared to be part of a team that will drive strategy and governance oversight. CSVR is an organisation that promotes inclusivity and particularly encouraging young people, people with disabilities and womxn to be part of the Board. Applications are sought from across business, government, academia and civil society sectors.
About the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation
Founded in 1989 and registered as a Section 21 company in 1990, Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) is an independent, non-profit organisation. It engages in research, community interventions, policy formation, Mental Health and Psychosocial Services (MHPSS), advocacy and capacity building. For three decades CSVR has worked to understand violence, heal its effects, reconcile communities and build sustainable peace in South Africa, the continent and elsewhere in the world.
The Board of CSVR plays a key role to further the Centre’s vision and mission. Board members are expected to attend statutory meetings but also to participate in the life of the organisation between board meetings, such as advising the management team and acting in an ambassadorial role.
