The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) is a non governmental organisation which envisions societies that are peaceful, equal and free from violence. CSVR aims to understand and prevent violence, heal its effects and build sustainable peace at community, national and regional levels. We do this through collaboration with and learning from the lived and diverse experiences of communities affected by violence and conflict to inform innovative interventions, generate knowledge, shape public discourse, influence policy, hold states accountable and promote gender equality, social cohesion and active citizenship. CSVR seeks to appoint a Website Upgrade and Maintenance Consultant for a period of two months.

CSVR website www.csvr.org.za was updated internally about two-years ago to improve CSVR online public profile. The organization has transitioned to a new Management Committee and established
a new Business Continuity Department which manages the organization’s internal and external communications. To improve its focus on communications, marketing, and public relations CSVR is embarking on refreshing its branding and visual media tools. CSVR identified the urgent need to
upgrade the website to reflect its current strategy, enhance its public profile and ensure the website is more appealing and user friendly to its target audience and followers. In line with new hybrid communication models CSVR uses its online platforms to engage more actively with its constituents to obtain research information and critical feedback that is used to inform programming and key


The purpose of this assignment is to upgrade CSVR’s current website and its Hub pages with relevant
visual branding and tools, boost SEQ, keep up with evolving and relevant new technology, refresh
content, and update the website design
1. Upgrade CSVR website visual branding and current brand identity
2. Integrating with other systems and updates
3. Uploading fresh relevant content
4. Review content management system and update
5. Update design, look and feel of pages
6. Rethink and reposition key work targeting and content strategy, and overall, SEO strategy
7. Provide easier navigation on pages and mobile friendly web design
8. Improve website menus
9. Add special effects and powerful multimedia elements
10. Align CSVR website design with current trends

Check for issues such as:
• missing and poor-quality images
• incorrect and/or outdated user information
• Broken links
• Formatting / style issues
• Missing or out of date content


1. Good at proofreading and editing skills
2. Extremely creative with an eye for layout and design
3. A strong strategist that understands the why behind the copy
4. Detailed and meticulous with great follow through
5. Organized and efficient as they seek to marshal the resources to build a site, whether it’s a Web
Developer, Videographer, or Digital Marketing Manager — or all three
6. Leadership skills that make them good with people and patient while gaining consensus on the
brand voice
7. A good researcher, as they build content or look for ways to enhance the website
8. Able to work within the frameworks of the various interdepartmental business processes while
remaining highly creative
9. A consumer of web content themselves; they know the medium and what techniques are most effective for engaging consumers
10. Able to test the various website elements by seeking and gaining user feedback
11. They must understand the user experience for their brand
12. Can develop content for complex, efficient websites quickly
