Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

The aim of this manual is to outline mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in the context of enforced disappearances, and to provide insights into community-based psychosocial support interventions. It outlines strategies to mitigate risk factors for stress, secondary traumatization, and re-traumatization. It also takes into consideration that many of the participants of the Forensic Academies are practitioners, advocates, and professionals in various post-conflict countries who have been impacted to various degrees by war and conflict. As such, this manual seeks to highlight key learnings pertaining to collective trauma and journeys of healing for people, families, and communities that have survived and lost loved ones through
enforced disappearance.
