Metro Government Safety and Security Arrangements in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality

This report is part of a series of reports which document the role of local government in crime reduction in the six metropolitan cities in South Africa. The report gives a preliminary overview of the municipality's safety and security arrangements, and future crime reduction plans, in the Nelson Mandela Metro in the Eastern Cape Province. In particular, it will consider the local government's progress on the development of social crime prevention and by-law enforcement initiatives, given that these are the two primary tasks of local government in relation to local-level crime reduction.
