These 3 case studies review the manifestation of violent extremism in the Sahel region, particularly in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. It contains an analysis of the militaristic approaches adopted so far in addressing this phenomenon. However the research argues that such an approach does not effectively address the root causes of this phenomenon. Transitional justice tools are thus proffered as the appropriate approach in addressing radicalism and violent extremism in Africa
