Internships

CSVR welcomes applications from people wishing to do an internship from South Africa, Africa and the rest of the world. Applicants need to specify their area of interest or which programme they would like to join in order to enable us to place them appropriately.

Applications should include the following:

Area of interest

Applicants should indicate whether they have a specific project in mind, which must fall clearly within the scope of one of the CSVR's programmes, or indicate which aspects of CSVR's work are of particular interest.

Funding

Interns must organise their own sources of funding, as CSVR cannot contribute towards their income. CSVR offers limited support to interns from South Africa and the rest of the continent.

Qualifications

Interns should have a bachelor's degree or higher, and preferably have some relevant work experience. They should indicate specific skills and experience related to the area and type of work they want to pursue.

Knowledge and background

Interns should show familiarity with the South African political context and some detailed knowledge of the specific project areas which they want to pursue. They should also provide some indication of commitment to principles of human rights, social justice and non-violent conflict resolution.

Period of internship

Interns should preferably be available to work for at least three months.

Computer access

Interns should indicate if they can bring their own computer or other equipment (e.g., audio recorder) that they might need for their work.

Application

Interns must provide CSVR with a CV and the names of two contactable references when presenting an application.

Email

All applications for an internship should be addressed to pmazwi@csvr.org.za.
